Destination BC launches Same Day Game Day for FIFA World Cup 26 visitors

Destination BC has launched Same Day Game Day, a program designed to help visitors attend FIFA World Cup 26™ matches at BC Place in Vancouver while staying in nearby communities.

The FIFA World Cup 26™ presents a major opportunity for BC’s tourism sector. As one of only two Canadian provinces hosting matches, BC is expected to welcome over one million additional visitors between 2026 and 2030, generating an estimated $1 billion in incremental tourism revenue.

Same Day Game Day highlights destinations within one to two hours of Vancouver, including Nanaimo, Victoria, Squamish, Whistler, Chilliwack, the Sunshine Coast, and Bowen Island. Visitors can stay in these communities and travel to matches using ferries, seaplanes, and ground transportation, returning the same day. The program also encourages pre- and post-match travel to extend visits and explore more of BC.

Developed in partnership with tourism and transportation organizations, Same Day Game Day supports local businesses, drives overnight stays, and helps spread visitors across the region. It is part of the province-wide BC Tourism FC initiative, which aims to maximize economic and cultural benefits for communities across BC during and beyond the tournament.
