What is your current job? Please also describe a typical day.

I work as a Customer Solutions Coordinator at G Adventures. I handle post travel feedback such as reading all completed evaluations, and handling and settling complaints and requests for compensation. I do this by conducting investigations with our local offices, and I’m responsible for feedback from all our tours that operate in Europe, the Middle East, Morocco, and Oceania.

What has been your career path so far? What experiences led you to your current role?

I started as an intern for the company as part of my schooling and after the internship ended I applied for an entry position in the sales department. After interviewing, I was working for the company a few months later. After five months in sales, a position opened in the customer solutions department so I applied and interviewed, and have been there ever since. I believe that all experiences lead you to where you currently are in life. Every job, opportunity, conference or failed interview teaches you something that you can apply further down the line.

How did your post-secondary studies and BSAP experience prepare you for working in tourism & hospitality?

Getting my tourism diploma and the BSAP experience taught me a lot about how the industry operates, which vastly helped me when I first started in my role. The vocabulary and processes were already familiar so it was more a matter of learning my company’s specific systems and priorities which accelerated my understanding and ability to grow.

What career opportunities are you looking forward to in the future?

I’m excited to continue with G and I’m looking for ways to further involve myself with the company and my peers. For now I’m quite happy in my current role, but I look forward to finding more and different opportunities to serve the G community.

Congratulations, Emily, on your thriving career, and all the best for the future!
