Destination Canada and Statistics Canada have released a new report entitled The Contribution of Tourism in 2024: Jobs and Economic Growth Across Canada.
The report details the Canadian tourism industry’s recent growth and underscores the importance of the economic contributions it provides to millions of Canadians.
Highlights include:
- In 2024, tourism activities generated $129.71 billion in revenues distributed over a wide range of services provided in communities of all sizes across Canada.
- In Canada, the tourism sector includes 265,841 businesses, supported by a workforce of more than 2 million people. Overall, one in ten workers in Canada are in tourism industries.
- The tourism sector grew by 3.6% in 2024, outpacing the national GDP growth rate of +1.7%.
