TMU Student Lands Opportunity at Toronto’s FIFA Fan Festival

A Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) student turned her passion for tourism and events into a career-building opportunity this summer by helping deliver one of the city’s biggest tourism events.

Fourth-year Hospitality and Tourism Management student Libby Worden worked with Destination Ontario at Toronto’s FIFA Fan Festival, where she supported event operations and hosted partners visiting the site during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The festival welcomed more than 300,000 visitors, showcasing Toronto and Ontario to an international audience through live match broadcasts, entertainment, cultural programming and local attractions.

Worden credits networking through TMU’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program with helping her secure the opportunity, demonstrating the value of industry connections and experiential learning. The experience highlights how hands-on opportunities can prepare tourism and hospitality students for careers in major events while showcasing Canada’s ability to host world-class international visitors.
